Hello!
It’s been a hot minute since I sent you an email. I ended up taking an impromptu newsletter break after the release of my debut album. It’s been nice to not overload myself with little ‘social media computer jobs’ and spend some time reconnecting with myself.
I am currently trying to design a life where I have less little ‘social media computer jobs’ to do, because it’s a lot of effort for something which is only a small part of my life. Maybe we all give ourselves mid-year resolutions, yes?
🍰 Here’s some things I’ve been up to:
I’ve started doing the Artist’s Way (AGAIN… third time baby LESGO)
I have been closing my laptop and phone from 9:30pm onwards each night and, you guys, the difference this has made to my sleep is INSANE
I’ve been following a mantra in my head which goes something like ‘less zoom calls, more paper’, and have been back in my notebooks
I’ve realised that sometimes the stuff I make has to be incubated and not instantly shared online
Redesigned my website
I went to my friend James’ art show in Brighton
Went to a great play in London by my friend Anoushka
Instead I chose to make one solid piece of content a week for Instagram, for a ten week period. I am currently on week 6 of my little videos
I like the idea of giving something a limited run and then seeing where it goes.
I bought a CD player!!!! It is my current pride and joy and obsession
I ate a tiny orange today 🍊
I am planning to start sending newsletters again soon (maybe it’s time for a re-brand???) but have been enjoying this recalibration time so much.

Wow, your third time Artists Way! whoop whoop - have lots of fun and inspiration doing everything with even more intensity and knowledge!
1. I'm fine - wearing my new pink gingham summer-trousers :) (also tired)
2. I guess my wonderful client and my smooth-flowing project, which is nearly finished. It's an illustration for my home county/district
3. I am actually realising that it is mid-year and that I actually am working on my plans for the second half: finally redoing my website (yours looks wonderful!), re-opening my etsy-shop, working on my book, working on my paintings, working on my portfolio - and having fun with it all! (and trying not to be overwhelmed)
4. I did enjoy listening to your podcast - it was so interesting to learn about the songwriting progress. I am trying to incorporate your spirit into my illustration (how? I don't know, it's probably intuitive...) I listend to music by Damiano David, Cosmo Sheldrake and a lot of 80s music for dopamine :)
Thanks for reminding me, I still need to listen to your album!! Man, aren't screen breaks nice? Glad you're enjoying life offline, I had been wondering where you were!
1. Dealing with some mental health issues but otherwise good!
2. Today - it's my daughter's 3rd birthday 😊
3. Read more books, write in my journal more, and finish the embroidery kit I got for Xmas
4. I made a playlist the other day of a bunch of indie songs that I loved back in college (2007 - 2011 timeframe). I've been very nostalgic for that time lately for unknown reasons. I put it on my iPod to listen to ❤ In case you're curious, some of the artists are The Bird & the Bee, Lenka, Camera Obscura, Gregory & the Hawk, Noah & the Whale, Alela Diane, A Fine Frenzy, and Sufjan Stevens.
