When I ran my album Kickstarter back in 2024, I made a little content series called ‘Songs I Wrote In My Twenties’.
These emails acted as a runway to the Kickstarter campaign, and gave my audience a recap on:
who I was
what music I’d made
why this album was such an important moment for me as an artist
In the middle of planning a crowdfunding campaign— writing copy for the page, writing more emails for the campaign itself, and drafting up social posts— this little series gave me the space to relax around my newsletter for a few weeks. I knew what I was going to post. And, it was fun to write!
My Kickstarter ended up raising £1000 extra, which for an artist with a newsletter of about 200 subscribers at the time (and an Instagram account of 1000 followers), felt like a real achievement.
I wouldn’t have been able to do it without leaning hard into my communications and sharing my true self with my friends, fans and followers.
A series like this makes things easier for you, when you’re trying to figure out how to share your art and your story.
Tonight (or this afternoon, depending on your time zone) we’re going to go through the process of drafting a content series.
