Sorry about your fracture!! Ouch. Those rocks? Are stunning and beautiful and eye catching and full of stories because of fractures and fissures and stress. Is that a rainbow? I love rocks and I loved this essay!! Good luck on your move and the boxes and the healing.
I have some good memories of climbing Arthur's Seat. Obviously the answer to your rock conundrum, by way of Scotland is: swap some stories and drink some whiskey.

yes -- swap stories, drink whiskey, and get to the point where you no longer remember what is was you were initially talking about! problem solved, the scottish way.
I love it, Scotland is one of the few places with arguably worse weather than much of Canada much of the time, but I think people there have better traditions and community structures for dealing with it. I was last in Edinburgh for the Fringe, which was amazing, but I enjoyed the regular local things and hangouts too, even though they all like to complain about how terrible it is, although it and the many other festivals bring vitality and funds to the city.
Hugs! I’m so sorry about your foot💞I feel you on the move, though-I’ve also recently moved (this past weekend) and am in the process of unpacking. I hope your foot gets fully better soon, and that you don’t have too much trouble packing and moving!
aw Kimber thank you! moving is such a pain but it's mostly the *finding somewhere to move to* part which is the most stressful at the moment, haha. i know it'll all come right in the end though. hope your unpacking goes smoothly!
Haha, thanks😊I finally found my cats toys today so they’re super happy about that!😸
I agree, finding somewhere to move to is also a pain-especially depending on where it is the price can make or break you. I had to move because I was about to break under the rent price (if I wasn’t going to school, though, I most likely would’ve been able to stay where I was for a bit longer because it was a beautiful area). The place where I’m at now is alright and more affordable, but the management team is not as communicative as I and other residencees would like them to be.
I hope your next place is in an area where you feel safe, and that the people you need to talk to are reasonably open to communication💞
Oh no! Sorry about your ankle! :( Hope you feel better soon... I do have to say, this newsletter made me chuckle several times, you have the most entertaining style of writing and I will miss your newsletter the rest of this month - but wishing for your quick recovery and a smooth moving out (and in?) process
As far as the geology question: that actually does look like an intrusion to me! Intrusions don't always have to be large like the one in the photo you included, although that one looks super cool. More specifically, the intrusion in this rock looks like a pegmatite - my favorite! You can normally find really cool minerals in pegmatites :) good find
thanks Becky! no doubt I will have a lot more writing to share once I've sorted myself out this month :)
and thanks for the info, I knew you would come through haha. i'm glad that my initial idea was on the right track. it's such a lovely rock although too big to carry home with me! thankfully i'll get to admire and inspect it when i come back to Aberdeen for another (less eventuful!) dog walk.
ALSO i saw on your instagram that your boyfriend got you tickets to iceland for christmas!?!?! that's insane! i went several years back before the geology bug hit and i so wish i could go back now. you will LOVE IT.
I'm sorry this happened to you. But, you are hilarious. The wheeling you around like parcel nearly made me wet my pants 😆.
Happy healing to you!
haha glad you got a laugh out of that Aleshia! thank you, it's getting a bit better every day :)
Hope you get well soon!
thanks Mark!
By the way, I'm really enjoying Happy New Year!

Take care, O! Hear hear to taking what comes and giving yourself grace.
thanks Ryan! didn't think I'd be taking a break at the start of the year but you're right about giving yourself grace.
Yes, like I tell everyone, I'm always right and dissent will be punished.
