I think workshops would be nice. Having seen some of your stuff on Instagram, you have the leeway to go beyond the songwriting and creative process... lots of it is mind games, as you'd know!
I'm a pretty recent adopter of the Olivia Rafferty newsletter lifestyle (got a tip from Kevin Alexander), so I can't be of much help today. I've been trying to work up the courage to make a shift like this on my own substack, so I really appreciate the chance to learn from how you end up doing it!
eyyyyy welcome to the Rafferty lifestyle! it's taken me a long time to get here but also i was waiting to break 1000 subs so i'd actually have a chance at conversion lol. good luck with it! what are you considering to have behind your paywall?
Oh gosh. I’m really not sure! I thought about launching at the 1 year anniversary and starting of without any perks at all—just give friends and family the chance to support me in that way if they wish. I really like the way Matt at Fog Chaser does it. Everyone gets the new songs, but subscribers get access to the archive and playlists of songs from previous years volumes. So once I have a year of songs out there, maybe that will be the time to close the archive. Who knows!
I voted workshop because 1) I looove learning from ppl, and 2) I want you to add something to your workload ONLY if you really want to do it, and it sounds like you’re already considering this. Getting paid is important, but make sure the added work isn’t too much of a slog 💖
yes! i have started to realise that the paid part of substack has to be a support for my practice. and i think it will. i'm looking at sharing some demos of songs from my next project and also teaching some workshops because i want to get into more facilitating this year. stay tuned!!
FREE ENTRY Let's fkn go I'm there :D (if the kids go to sleep on time :') ) Re subscriptions, I was able to cancel my free one here the same way I'd cancel a paid one. Not sure about taking them away ):
hope you have lots of fun tonight at your gig!! reg the lifetime comp: you click on the people’s emails & cancel their subscription which should only cancel the comp i believe! did the same once, fixed it :)

yayyyy!
also yeah i think people can choose to cancel them but otherwise i have to go in and do everyone individually >.<
gonna have a fun afternoon lol
Give me behind the scenes sneaky peaky!! Plus I also love artists getting to not have to add to their workload by sharing the “blooper” real.
